My Favorite Backyard Ideas
There really isn’t anywhere that I would rather be able to go to rejuvenate my soul than my own backyard. I’m sure it doesn’t sound very adventurous, but honestly, I’ve passed the point in my life when my idea of a great day would be to drive for hours and bungee jump of a bridge. I guess I’ve settled down and there’s nowhere I’d rather be settled down than my own backyard, which is why I’ve come to appreciate great backyard ideas when they come my way.
I love the new solar garden lights that are so easy to find and especially I like the new floating lights that change color. There are so many great new outdoor candle lanterns for the patio or deck table that evenings are as much a part of my backyard life as the day – OK that’s an exaggeration.
I love seeing birds in my backyard so birdfeeders and bird baths that will help me attract them are more interesting to me than they used to be. What’s probably even more important is to keep my yard chemical free – particular concerning pesticides which are a big no no in my garden and have been for years. Going green should be a given in a garden, ironically its not. Whenever possible I prefer the use of organic fertilizers as well although when it comes to my newest backyard passion – small space hydroponic vegetable gardens supplying organic nutrients is a challenge.
I’m particularly fascinated with small space vegetable gardening because they’re going to go a long way to help greening up our urban environment. – and not a moment too soon.
So bring on the summer and take me into my own garden with it’s bonsai and tomatoes, birdbaths and houses, lots of bugs and great lighting – everyone needs their own little piece of heaven on earth and this is mine.
