Low-Impact Exercises for a Start
Posted on 13 June 2011
When we think of exercise we think of hard bodies, sweat, hard work, and rapid heart rate this can be true of anyone who puts forth the effort right?
You can push your body hard however if you do exercises wrong you will get no where, let me explain- if all you do is long bouts of cardio you will have a strong heart but your muscles will not stretch, and strengthen. Cardio must be combined with toning exercises and switched up so different muscles are used at each workout.
With all that said I need to shift gears for a moment and let you know of the dangers that are also lurking from academic sports when the push for that “title” or “trophy” pushes the children into the danger zone from just being a sport of good fun to a push of emergency room-treated injuries.
According to a US Consumer Product Safety Commission report, over two million injuries were associated with bicycling, football, and other sports. With the push for a schools perfection such as a state title the number of injuries is going to continue to increase every year.
There are many reasons people don’t ever get started with exercise, what if I told you that if you participated in exercise three times a week a minimum your sex life would improve, you could fight off depression, decreases stress and lower blood pressure, would this be incentive enough?
“We can achieve great things when we all work together” “This will work because we all have a common goal, our children” Who doesn’t want a kid to succeed, teachers, community leaders, parents and even the kids themselves can motivated each other and put obese kids a term of the past.
Low-impact exercises could include a stationary bike, walking, working out in a pool, or beginning yoga. Each type of exercise you choose can be modified to the level of fitness you are ready for, and if others are also participating such as a class, the coach or leader should give directions for different levels of obtaining the cardio workout you are trying to achieve.
Exercise can be fun; it certainly is good for you. You may start slow but they key is to start.
